Reduce distraction with social media

 I have recently posted this tip on Reddit and I was very happy with the response I got. So I am updating it and reposting here. These are very simple tips and which you can do it in a matter of minutes and they are free and easy :)

I was so addicted to social media / news, that I was becoming very lazy and under productive. I was having this thought lingering the back of my mind. I came up with a strategy, which I feel was fair - not 100% success (later I will what I did to achieve my goal). But I was happy with the result.

One fine day, I decided to remove all the social / news apps from my device.

and slowly started using the browser based versions! This has many advantages few are - no unlimited scrolling, less frequent updates and notifications, no fancy animations.

I have switched of notifications for these apps.

Now am happy in many fronts viz., less notifications, no storage concerns, always put effort in refreshing, you can toggle off media loading etc.,

You perform another simple trick, which is to hide your application icons. This take some effort to find the apps. Because having icons on the front screen is too easy to find.

This made my day and helped me to a great extent and I could regain my time and energy.

I will try to post more detailed information on the above quoted topics. Which I think are a separate exercise in itself.

PS: Clear browser history regularly to be even less distracted.
